Attempt to block the implementation of an Obama-era rule requiring large companies report employee pay data based on race and gender.

 


Created to ensure large businesses receiving federal contracts adhered to labor and civil rights laws, the Fair Pay and Safe Workplaces Act found itself revoked within months of President Trump taking office.

Mar. 4th, 2019  BLOCK OVERTURNED; RULE IMPLEMENTED

A U.S. District judge ordered the Equal Pay Rule be revived after it ruling the White House had failed to provide a rationale for why it attempted to cancel the previously approved rule.

Notables

 

  • By revoking the Equal Pay and Safe Workplaces Act, Trump eliminated a rule aimed at wage transparency and another which prevented arbitration clauses for sexual-harassment lawsuits (known as “cover-up clauses”).
